visitors: week 2

We were sad to see Al and Arlee leave this morning. We had a great time and are looking forward to our next visitors, my parents and siblings, Matt, Jeff and Lynne, in June! Here's our last week:

Thursday/Friday: Kyoto and Hemeji Castle (below) Ryan went with them as their official tour guide. They liked riding the bullet train, sleeping in a ryokan and doing all the usual Kyoto stuff.

Saturday (my birthday!) took the kids to the mud park in the morning. Al and Arlee thought a park where you dig in the mud and play with fire was quite interesting. didn't take many pictures, but we also had lunch at Arms, saw the imperial palace, walked through the infamous Shibuya crosswalk and got Coldstone for dessert that night.
Sunday: visited Meiji Shrine in the morning and saw 4 weddings! which was awesome! Went to church. Al and Arlee got to experience our LONG church days. got there at noon (for activity days before church) and left at 5:30 (waiting around for Ryan to finish up tithing stuff after church) But it gave us time to take pictures in front of the temple and Al and Arlee got to go to activity days with Emily, which just happened to be grandparent presentations. how luck was that?

Sunday night: Tokyo tower. It's lit up saying "2016 Tokyo" because they are hoping to host the olympics in 2016.
Monday and Tuesday: souvenir shopping. Oriental Bizarre, asakusa, book store and department store. Jake was such a trooper these days.

Wow. You guys did a lot of fun stuff. I'm sure you are exhausted now. Sorry I missed your birthday! Hope you had a good one.

Did you say, "play with fire?" Yes, that is one interesting park. Lily would love the mud part :) - and probably the fire too.

It is so nice having company I bet and to be able to show them around. I love the pic of the Tokyo tower. Beautiful!
