Our second day in Hakone we rode the cable car tram through the mountains and stopped off at Owakudani nature trail. I've heard Owakudani described as "Japan's Yellowstone." We walked among the open geysers and tried not to breath the sulfur air. It smelled awful! The best part was the black eggs! Regular eggs are lowered down into a geyser, and are brought up black, because of the sulfur! When peeled, they are just normal hard boiled eggs, but the kids thought they were cool. Each egg you eat supposedly adds seven years to your life. I always get a kick out of English signs spelled wrong. We were laughing about this sign and now joke that when something is extra dangerous, it's "dengerous!"
