the one with the wii

Merry Christmas everyone! In our family, Santa leaves all his presents unwrapped, on the couch. the wrapped presents under the tree are from relatives, mom and dad etc. The kids woke up around 7 am and we went downstairs to see what Santa brought. after checking out all their stuff and making sure that Santa ate the cookies and milk (the kids decided on chocolate M&M cookies this year) we asked them to hold up their favorite present for the camera. (before we started opening the wrapped presents) Emily loves to crochet and was really excited for a ton of yarn. Trent loved his snap circuits. he's been studying electricity at school. Jake was funny, because although he picked his star wars hot wheels for the picture, they haven't even been played with once! and I'm posting this on January 3.
This year Santa also brought a wii. he had been trying for a trampoline, (long story) and the wii came in last minute, thanks to some elves back in Idaho. The kids were REALLY excited.

we made sure to have 4 controllers, and so much of the afternoon, looked like this: they played for hours! we've been letting them play a lot over the Christmas break, but once school starts will have to set up some rules.

back to the presents:

This was Emily's gift to Jake. Each of the kids gets a present for each other. but this one had a funny story. When we were at the store, Jake couldn't get over the fact that he was supposed to pick out a present for Emily and Trent, but not himself. He found this in the store and kept saying, "this is for me" so Emily ended up getting it for him. He held it the entire car ride home and he was in tears when we got home, wrapped it, and put it under the tree instead of letting him open it right away.
colored hair spray! totally awesome.

the kids also LOVED their paper jams guitars from grandma and grandpa.

a tag ball set for Trent.

the after mess.

my obi cranes from Ryan. the crane is the Japanese symbol for peace

I love the week after Christmas because the kids get to play with their new toys all week. we rarely left the house. (except for Disneyland)

Emily and her friend Sabrina are trying out Emily's pottery wheel. and still loving that color hairspray!
