labor day weekend fun

On Friday, our shipment came! I think it's amazing that this is the actual container that crossed the ocean on a boat and now finally made it to Seattle. and now it is once again, life in boxes. and paper. The movers were AMAZED at how much paper the Japanese moving company had used. everything is wrapped, over and over again. like 8-10 times in paper for one cup. and now we have the lovely job of getting rid of all our paper and boxes. we load up the car and take trips to the recycling center.

If we've been living just fine, for the past 2 months without all this "stuff," then do we really need it all? because we really haven't missed any of it. I am tempted to just start throwing away boxes without opening them and see if I notice what's gone. We have some serious decluttering coming up soon.

but instead of spending the holiday weekend unpacking, we played instead!! Our good friends from Tokyo, the Plotz's, moved just south of Seattle about 2 years ago. Emily and their daughter, Katherine, were best friends and in the same class for grades 2 and 3. and so when they called up and said they were coming into Seattle for a day at the science center, we jumped at the chance to hang out with them. It was so fun!

best friends, reunited! when Katherine moved away 2 years ago, Emily cried and cried. It was so sad for her. and then so exciting when we learned we'd be moving to Seattle and closer to their family.

afterwards, we had dinner down on the waterfront at Anthony's. (the first floor Anthony's. not to be confused with the second floor Anthony's. they are totally different) :) perfect weather and view! the kids were having great fun feeding the pigeons.

we were having fun posing for lots of pictures at sunset. the lighting was so great.

thanks David and Nung for a great day! can't wait to see you all again.

So fun to see old friends again! Looks like you are adjusting well to life back in the states. Love the pictures of Jake going to kindergarten. WOW! A big day for mom to send your baby to school. What a handsome boy.
