more tea boxes

two weeks ago for a Relief Society activity, we covered tea boxes with fabric. It was something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I have a washi papered covered box, but not fabric. you could use regular fabric, or an obi, the middle part of a kimono. here is our stack of boxes, waiting to get started!
first we did the lip of the box. this was the hardest part

then cover the box with batting, using a staple gun, which I had never used before but loved! note to self: find more projects that use a staple gun...
then (and this might have actually been the hardest part) you had to cut your beautiful obi up the back, which was almost painful to cut b/c it's so pretty, and wrap it around the box.

staple away, and in about 3 hours, you're left with this! voila!! this one's mine.
here are more examples so you can see the difference between the obi ones and the fabric ones. some are halfway done and don't have the ropes around them yet, but you get the idea. all are gorgeous. we used the 10K box size.
