Tsukiji Fish Market

The first day my family was here we got up at 3:45 am and visited Tsukiji Fish Market. I had never been before (children aren't allowed and who's going to babysit at 4 am?) so I was really excited to go. My dad and brother Matt, opted to stay home and sleep so were home with the kids.

Tsukiji is the biggest fish market in the world, handling over 2000 tons of seafood each day. It was huge! The tuna auction was the main attraction. Tsukiji was closed to the public for a few months recently because the visitors were not taking the auction seriously and staying out of the way. people were licking the tuna etc...but now it's open and we all had to be very quiet and stay out of the way. Bidders were inspecting each tuna very carefully. It was a lot of fun! cutting frozen tuna with a band saw
