Tsukiji is the biggest fish market in the world, handling over 2000 tons of seafood each day. It was huge! The tuna auction was the main attraction. Tsukiji was closed to the public for a few months recently because the visitors were not taking the auction seriously and staying out of the way. people were licking the tuna etc...but now it's open and we all had to be very quiet and stay out of the way. Bidders were inspecting each tuna very carefully. It was a lot of fun!
the red you see on each fish is paint, to distinguish each fish to make the auction easier.
