A day in the life of a first grader

Last week Ryan and I got to go to Emily's school for the first grade parent morning. The class put on a play, Emily got to show off her portfolio of all her work and we even had hot lunch. Emily loved it!

This giant blue sign behind the class was for the class play. Afterwards, the teacher picked one name out of a hat to see who got to take it home. The winner--Emily, of course! It takes up my entire dining room wall and definitely gives us something bright to look at while we are eating.

Emily was a narrator in the class play, "the boastful frog".

Emily is holding her diggery-doo, an Australian instrument she made. The class has been studying Australia for 2 months now. We even got to sample Australian food that morning.

So much fun! I can't believe she is already in the first grade - time flies :).

What a great time she looks like she's having! She will probably miss school in the summer.
