KidZania Review

last month we took the kids to KidZania, a place they have been begging to go to b/c they keep hearing their friends talk about it. so here's my little review, then our pictures, which are a lot, b/c they are SO cute, I couldn't cut it down.

KidZania is a Mexican chain of family theme parks. There are 7 in the world, but sadly, none in the USA. Each KidZania is themed as a child-sized replica of a real city, including buildings, shops, theaters, and streets, cars, pedestrians etc. In the city, kids ages 3-14 can choose between 70 different jobs to work at, and earn money. They you can either save your money in the bank for next time you come, or spend your money at the end of the day.

It was such an interesting concept for a theme park. Our kids had a blast. But I would recommend not going on a Saturday. It was packed and each of our kids only got to do 4 jobs. (think of a job as the equivilent of going on a ride at Disneyland) they had to wait 30-60 minutes per job! also, it was a little spendy. priced similar to Disneyland.

The first job they chose was working in the ice cream shop.

don't forget the sprinkles and heart cookie! then they got to eat what they made.

next up was Pizza-La, a popular pizza chain in Tokyo. I loved this funny face Trent is making.

their pizza was put in a box and then we all had lunch!
"Wait! I wanted a hamburger!"

Then we split up. Emily went to fashion design and Jake went to airplane pilot. no pics of either, but I was watching Jake from outside the airplane on a TV screen. it was an actual ANA plane! Also, no parents are allowed into the job sites. Trent picked building worker. (not sure what you would call this actual job.

Then Jake moved on to gas station attendant, and boy was he ADORABLE!!! He actually filled the car, wiped down the windows and gave them a receipt.

waving goodbye to his customers

Emily and Trent really wanted to drive the cars (Jake wasn't old enough so that's why he settled for gas station attendant) but first they had to take Drivers Ed, a 30 minute class then take a driving test. to get their licenses, which actually look like real drivers licenses! Again, we couldn't go in, but were watching from a TV screen. Here's them taking their written test.

licensed to drive!!

and that was our totally awesome day!! we highly recommend KidZania, just not on a Saturday. Other jobs the kids would like to do next time, would be:
Firefighters: they get a call at the station, then get to drive across the city in a firetruck to the fire, (fake fire) but real hoses with water, they get to spray the building down.
Ambulance: same type of thing..get a call, drive the ambulance to a dummy that's been positioned in the middle of the road, perform CPR, load them into the ambulance.
and the list goes on and on.
