happy birthday Trent! we love you!!! below he's just opened Aqua Sand, something he's wanted for over a year now ever since he saw it on an info-mercial. he loves it. but it's so messy... this was supposed to be a Christmas present, but didn't come in time so I saved it for his birthday.

and the best present of all....we special ordered an entire case of Cookie Crisp cold cereal from the US, and then built up a wall of cookie crisp cereal boxes in his bedroom doorway so when he woke up he had to break through the wall to get out of his room.

My parents did this to me for one of my birthdays with my favorite cereal, Rice Krispie Treats. anyone remember that cereal? I must have been the only one who liked it, because it didn't last long!

We don't have cold cereal here, and we especially usually don't have cereals like cookie crisp so it was very exciting. (little did we know that a week later, we'd be in the United States eating cold cereal to our hearts content...)

This year instead of a party, Trent got to take one friend to Yunessun, our favorite Japanese water park/onsen. we went the Saturday before his birthday. He took his friend Nicholas, from school.

we've never been in the winter before and it was so pretty to be outside with all the snow. and then it even started snowing for a little while. it was very peaceful.

I couldn't believe the water slides were open during the winter. brrrr.

this is coffee being poured over Trent's head.

Jill, I love the photo shoot! Also, you are the most fun mom! A wall of cereal, made of cookies no less? My kids are jealous. :)

Love the cereal wall idea. too bad I am the only one in my family to eat cereal (Kevin hates it.). And that water park looks awesome!
